Monday, February 12th is National African American Parent Involvement Day, designed to stress the importance of African American parents and families getting involved in their child’s education and celebrating the partnership between students, families, and schools.
We invite all African and African American parents and extended family members to visit Leschi on Monday, February 13 from 8am-12:15pm, or until the end of the day if you are approved as a volunteer. "We know that family and Community involvement is key to our student's educational success."
If parents are visiting for this event, then they don’t need to be cleared as volunteers. In this case, they can only help their own students. Also, the expectation is that staff are always present and supervising the class when “parent visitors” are in classrooms.
If parents would like to stay through the end of the day, they can eat lunch and go to recess as well.
